About ASIFA

ASIFA (Association Internationale du Film d'Animation) is a global non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the art of animation and fostering international collaboration among animators. Established in 1960 in Annecy, France, ASIFA was founded by renowned animators such as Norman McLaren, John Hubley, Paul Grimault, and others who envisioned a world where animation could serve as a universal language connecting cultures and fostering peace.

Today, ASIFA operates through a network of over 40 national and regional chapters worldwide, each contributing to the organization's mission in their respective regions. ASIFA maintains official relations with UNESCO, underscoring its commitment to cultural collaboration and the promotion of animation as a global art form. The organization sponsors various animation film festivals globally and supports initiatives like International Animation Day, celebrated annually on October 28th to honor the art of animation.

Through festivals, awards, educational programs, and cultural exchanges, ASIFA continues to play a pivotal role in uniting animators across cultures, promoting the art form, and fostering international understanding and cooperation. The association remains committed to protecting animators' rights, preserving the heritage of animation, and ensuring that the art of animation continues to thrive and evolve for future generations.
